Wildrose School – Mrs. Wilson’s Class

On Monday, January 7th, the grade 2s from Wildrose School and I got together and wrote a story, Lucy’s Big Surprise. Here is their amazing story!

And what story doesn’t like to be accompanied by illustrations?

  1. I was really impressed by this story. You write better than I did in grade 2. I would really like to see more of your work so keep writing. Just so you know, the things I enjoyed most about your story were: 1. that it was set in Las Vegas (it’s hard to write a story in a city you don’t live in) 2. that it had a cat as the main character (you did really well in helping us know her as a character) 3. the description was awesome… you had just the right amount and I could really see what was happening and lastly 4. the twist at the end, it was a bit of a surprise which is nice and it brought the story together as well. Keep up the great work – would love to see more from you in the future!

  2. What a creative story! Excellent job Grade 2! I like that it wasn’t easy for Lucy and you gave her lots of conficts along the way…and a happy ending. The artwork to go with it is inventive and colourful, too!

  3. What a great story kids! All the details and clear imagery really made it come to life. I could see everything in my head as I read it–what a talent you all have. Keep on writing, I look forward to more of your work!

  4. Such a sweet story! Wonderful description of what Lucy’s journey was like and then how crowded the grocery store was. But poor Lucy didn’t get her coconut. 🙁 And then she arrived home to find a surprise from her family. 🙂 Well done! And great pictures as well.

  5. What a delightful story ! Setting it in a sunny city during our winter was a good idea as it made me feel warm. It was exciting to follow Lucy’s progress in trying to get a coconut at the store. I was so upset when she found she didn’t have her wallet and I was hoping some kind person at the store would pay for her coconut. the surprise by her loving family was ad elightful ending.

  6. Great job, Grade 2s at Wildrose School! An excellent story filled with color and imagination. I especially liked how you all captured Lucy’s feelings very well through the whole story, and how her family was there for her in the end. You guys have talented imaginations — keep up the great work!

  7. I really liked this story. It was a great story to read to my little one and he says to tell you that he liked it. Lucy is a great cat and she handled her frustration well with no tantrums. Your pictures are very colorful. Well done.
